My friend's tank just had a bunch of babies...

Any advises on how to make sure that they grow up strong and healthy?

    Cheers,
    Joe

Get some microworms for now, failing that, get some live bbs. They will eat alot of small live foods in the early days, or you can try crushed flake. Feed in moderation. Their bellies will tell you if they're eating well. Round bellies showing the colour of the food they ate will ensure that they remain healthy.

They're pretty easy to raise so you shouldn't have any problems with them.

ohh... Congrats! Once they start breeding, they will usually continue to do so from time to time. He's going to have a lot of cories on his hands soon!

As for feeding, stormhawk's advice is pretty much all there is to it. If time does not permit preparation of live feeds, try Wardley's LiquidFry. Quite good too. As mentioned, keep the water quality good, don't overfeed.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Congrats!
Even with just crushed tetra bits, you will probably have more bronze babies than you know what to do with them. Their growth rates will also be faster if you feed them live food.

I think my friend is just lucky to have breeding happening even though she has only 2 of them...

    Where can microworms be found?
    Cheers,

    Congrats to your friend!

Lately been getting news from fellow members successfully in breeding fishes, not to forget to mention Theodore's rams and Tcampbell's angelfish.

Yes your friend is quite lucky. As for microworms, sorry I can't help you out at the moment. Your friend can try crushed Tetrabits or crushed sinking flake. It might get the babies to feed. But do not overfeed. Their raising tank should be bare-bottom with some moss and a sponge filter for filtration purposes. A water change once every few days should be okay. Alternatively, she can raise them in a shallow plastic tray or container. Just make sure that there is some moss in there and the container is placed in a corner that receives some sunlight during daylight hours.

I think you can get microworms from Ecoculture. Call to enquire.

Filtration-wise, you really need to do much if the tank is big enough, depending on the number of fries she has.
