    Hello again

What are lava rocks? i bought some rocks yesterday at C328 and i'm not sure what rocks they are :-

    -Powdery red in appearance
-When washed, red pigments are secreted
-Light initially but got heavy after soaking them in water
-Cost very cheap, small rocks range from $0.60 to $1.50

    So, what rock is that?

Do you know where can i get info to read about rocks? i mean, rocks which are suitable and found unsuitable for aquarium.

If there is such threads in this forum, please do link it here.. Thanks a lot a lot.

    Hi Alvin,
If you are talking about the shops in C328, the types of lava rocks that they sell is usually the bigger ones.. however, I have seen, in more recent times, lava rocks in much smaller pieces.. Lava rocks are among the more expensive rocks.. a piece resembling roughly the size of a tennis ball, i reckon will set up back around 5 bucks or slightly less..

Lava rocks is very porous.. crushed lava rocks in a OHF will be a great place to cultivate BBs.. but since we are talking about planted tanks.. another great use for lava rocks is to use it to get the mosses to attach itself on it..

lava rocks are very rough to the touch.. its a dark clay color.. not the orangy type.. I have bought lava rocks in packs before.. but after using it for a while in my OHF.. i don't think they are the real kind...

I will post a picture when i have the time...

    Hope this helps..
