hi, intend to get an inexpensive & efficient filter for my 2 by 1 by 1.5ft tank as i realised that without circulation, my mosses are basically collecting debris. but i have totally no idea with filters. can anyone help? i am concerned with 3 aspects of the filter: that it doesnt creates a stir up as i have riccia which can becomes total mess; that lapis sand sucks into the filter can be minimised; & lastly shrimplets wont be suck in. thanks.

An Eheim Liberty 100 or 150 should suffice. For the shrimplets, just stuff or wrap around a piece of filter floss into the filter intake to prevent them being sucked in.

The Liberty 100 is just nice, I've used it before. You have to maximise the flowrate though (flowrate adjustible).

If you can still find it, Atman 3335 is also suitable. I use one myself currently, been running for 3 years no problems except perhaps a slight drop in flowrate.

I got it under $50 if I remember correctly. It's already dirt cheap for a cannistor filter imho! Just so you know. A Ehiem 100 costs about the same.

I am usng a Atman CF-800 on my 2ft tank, stated 960l/h . But it is driving the water thru a fluidized bed filter, a chiller and an external CO2 reactor before the water returns to the tank via a submeged rain bar. The current in the tank is just nice.

It's a discontinued model if I'm not wrong so you may have trouble finding it. Nature Aquarium might carry stock left too.

Seriously, spend the $90++ buying a good canister like the Eheim Classic 2211 or 2213. It's a little expensive in the beginning, but will save you money in the long run. I believe they've got one of the lowest power consumptions for a canister on the market(5W for the 2211 and 8W for the 2213), are proven to last for years and years to come and spare parts are easily bought off the shelves from any good LFS here in Singapore.
    Call me Brian.

P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

Recommed this filter. Less 15 dollars.

Can even know when to clean it.
