Tempered or not glass will crack if its heated.. Don't think heat is a good idea. I've seen a product reviewed by FAMA about 2 years back to reduce visibility of scratches. I'm still going through my back issues for that article cause I've got scratches on my tank too (algae pad picked up lapis sand while cleaning).

It depends how deep the scratch is. If it is fine scratches then there is a product on the market that works to reduce the visibility of these scratches as mentioned by lonerider. Also there is something that CD stores use to clean their CDs... its also something similar to the glass ones but this one repairs the fine damaged scratches on the CD.. you could try this as well if you want.
actually very hard to remove scratches especially if it is too deep
I guess heat it up wont work![]()
They are just light scratches,I got it when I cleaned the side of the aquarium with scrubbing pad.I thought it won't do any harm.....well it's too late when I saw the damage.thanks for all your replies.
You need to get the very fine diamond dust thing jewellers use to polish glass face etc. Need a lot of elbow grease if the scratch is deep.

Diamond dust? that must be expensive, maybe buy new tank cheaper![]()
Correction, it's cerium oxide. Some tips here http://www.facetingmachines.com/polishing_glass.shtml
