    Hi all
I've had a low-maintenance planted tank for about a year now, and would like to try making a CO2 injector. Hope someone can help with these questions.

    1. How long can a batch of yeast last for? The websites I've read have mentioned anything from several weeks to 1-2 months, but will the yeast culture grow more rapidly in the warm weather here? My tank is beside a window, so temps should be relatively high.

    2. If a tank with a CO2 injector were to have the injector removed, would there be any negative effects (besides reduced plant growth)?

    Thanks!

!)On a average of 3 weeks, depending on your sugar mixture and the type of sugar.(This is base on a 2 litre mineral water bottle, if you use 1.5 litre it will be lower)

2)The plants only grow slower w/o co2 injection.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

My DIY co2 last me 1 week. I was using the Nutrafin bottle. Added 1 tsp of yeast and baking soda to the sugar mixture and it gives me 1 bps for about 7 days and then bubble count started to decline.

Its hard to maintain co2 levels in the tank with DIY, thats why I'm going pressurized. Cost more but definitely easier to maintain in the long run.

What's the capacity of the Nutrafin bottle? I've not used CO2 before and wanted to try it out, hence the simple DIY... What do you have in your tank?

Capacity for the Nutrafin is about 1 litre, maybe slightly less. I use to have Christmass moss, Java fern, E.Tenellus,Corkscrew Vals and Glosso on that 10 gallon tank but I got tired of changing mixture every week and got myself a cylinder.

My 2nd 1foot cube which I just set up is now on DIY co2 and using Tom Barr's venturi DIY reactor(really works) Bubble count is about 20-30 bpm. I've got hairgrass and HC in that tank. Plant is so far doing ok but still too early to tell. I supplement this tank with excel though.
