Discovered my external canister filter leaking today.

    Water all around the cabinet
Looked around, thought it was the tank at first... then realised it was coming from the filter.
    About 2.5 years old.
dismantled... trying to find the leak now, suspect is the container.

    Does warranty cover this?

Likely your head o-ring is gone. Easily purchase from any LFS, the rubber ring that fits into the slot where the head joins to the body. About 23-25 dollars.

    thanks michael,

but I'm suspecting the casing could be cracked or leaking somewhere, cos water seemed to be coming out from the bottom & not where the o-ring is located.

I'll have better look in the daytime.

okay, it would be a waste if the casing is broken. But I think you can still get about 10-20 dollars for the body and spare parts.

    2 things to note.

    1) If it's the big o-ring, you could see water dripping at the sides.

20 If it's the 2 small o-ring at the quick release connector, the water somehow dripped at the canister corner edge where the foot pad is. Don't know why but I've experienced it always.

It is a good idea to get a tray and place it under the canister filter. Any water leaking will be contained in the tray and it is also a tell-tale sign that the filter is leaking when you could see water in the tray.

    thanks everyone.

Check yesterday... leak not from casing.
Removed everything, filled up with water.... no leaks detected after whole day & night.

Now just go to figure, if its the big O or small Os. haha

I'm in AMK, any recommendations where I can get my Os.
I go the ehiem from qian hu, but rather not go that far.
though this weekend, everyone is probably at Suntec.

Did you switch off the canister, before you discovered that leak?

For a leak that's due to the o-ring, the canister usually starts leaking only when it's switched off.

    Unfortunately, did not.
Saw water all over the floor... so rush into mop up mode.
& traced the source back to the filter.

So canister was running all this while. Until the leak.
That squarish o ring, looks kinda of hard to take out.

May just drop by AQM this afternoon talk to the chaps there.

Petmart at Serangoon should have the spares you looking for. They have alot of Eheim spares for you to choose from.

    The big o-ring?

I normally just use a flat screwdriver. It comes out pretty easily.

Brought my top unit to petmart, yes they do have plenty of spares.
They even replaced it for me & did some minor servicing of the unit.
the 0 ring cost me $24.

    Good service.

    thanks for the recommendation.
    Till date, no leaks

before fixing back the pump head, tilt the pump head to all 4 corners to let any water collected in pump head to flow out. fix it back and try.
may be the leak is coming from the smaller o-rings.

    Finally its fixed

    Just an update.

Sent it to Yi Hu a week ago.

They couldn't find the leak, so they ask me to bring the connector piece from the filter to the tubes.

Once they used that... within mins, leak was discovered, so that piece had to be replaced.

    cost me about $20+

at least all is good now

Mine Pro2 2026 too is leaking from where the power cable exit from. Found out that it is a common problem among 2026. Could be a defective design, the O rings that are inside are not shown in the instruction manual so not able to fix problem myself. Have the pump head sent back, prefer the older series.
