Riccia not bubbling!?

i have gotten my riccia for a couple of months now. been growing it on wood and using a net to wrap it. thing is now that it grows out of the net , there is still no bubbles that you always see in farms and LFS. any advise would be appreciated.

the other thing is whether fertilizers are a must for planted as i have not used fert since the first day i started my new tank. both of them have been lasting for couple of months. but i must say that in one of the tanks my taiwan moss tied to mesh is turning a little brown throughout the days but the other tank which is mainly covered with peacock moss, fissiden and java fern is fine. anyone can advise if fert is a must? by the way, my tank conditions are-- co2 sufficient, light is 3ft and 2ft t5 2X39W and 1X55W respectively, atmann 3338 external filter and eheim 2213 external filter respectively.

any idea how many ppm is your CO2? what make you so sure that CO2 is sufficient?

For riccia, give them lots of light and CO2, it will start to bubble

your co2 content in water must be high and the lighting must be sufficient(i use roughly 3w/gal). IMHO using a co2 reactor is better as it is more efficient in allowing co2 to dissolve in the water. My riccia starts to bubble after i start using co2 reactor.

i think i sort of figured out why. could it be due to the massive number of fish in the tank leading to the bubbles not able to stabilise and settle nicely above the riccia? sorry for asking such a dumb question. thank alot for all the advice

In my experience there are two types of riccia - the floating ones and the sinking ones.

The sinking ones don't bubble and are a dark green in colour.

The floating ones bubble like buggery and are bright green in colour...

i got some riccia in my tank..all got bubble... 1 bps...light 144 watt...temp...25c.... but i put a blower inside my tank as it help to blow all my co2 bubble everywhere...
