I am also awaiting for new tank to start over again. Your scape inspire me with rocks set-up. Maybe with MH lights emmiting heats, try lowering water temperature, use chiller or fan.

I believe they are the "ADA" wood which are more expensive than other woods around.

IMO too much sand area, looks like a receding hairline.

how thick is your sand layer? especially near the back where it slopes up higher

my 2-cents worth opinion --> thick sand layers are not advisable
especially with fine compact sand as they cause a lack of good water flow through the substrate
may cause a "blackening" of the sand layers from the bottom up
and emit a bad smell eventually
and one fine day kills all the fauna at one go

anaerobic substrate they call it or something like that
pardon my lack of knowledge on the spelling

after revamp update. foreground seems to be growing and bobitis seems to be growing well too. but the background seems to be dying again as usual.

need advice on back ground. not enough base fert maybe?

btw this tank always had no base fert only root monster and liquid fert.

    Hi Juilian,

You can try vallis nana. This is an easy plant that suits your tank theme and size. It's quite easy to maintain as well.

The back of the tank looks pretty dark. Plus with your bolbitis and fern bush further blocking the lights off at the bottom, maybe thats why the plants have difficulty growing. Get some tall plants like the one suggested by stan.

I have a question. Does your bolbitis turn black under your 2X MH?

Err, gene, I think it is Stan who suggested the plant.
Anyway, you might also want to consider balansae. Less maintanence. No runners to be bothered with.

I would use base fert for stem plants or plants with roots. That how they grow through theirs roots.
