good job. full of potential.
I am a Dennerle substrate fan too.

Just rescape my tank yesterday. Cause i simply has no time these days to maintain after switching job. thus pick anubias!
first try using anubias.. not sure what's a good theme for them.
current stocks are
Anubias barteri var angustifolia
Anubias afzelii
Anubias sp Gabon
Anubias Nana Gold
Anubias Nana Petite
Barclaya longifolia Green
Downoi
Crypt willisii (i think)
3x1.5x1.5ft
no ferts, just dennerle sand
temp @ 25ºC, 4x39watt T5, 7hrs

same here. tested ada on my 2ft. kinda regret now.
thanks for the kind words. but somehow i felt my right side isn't matching.
should i remove the Barclaya longifolia ?
if downoi grows well in my tank. suitable as foreground? other choice in mind is c.parva which i have plenty in my 2ft tank

You're not supplementing CO2 in this tank? With that amount of light and with the plants chosen, you might(touch wood) run into some algae problems. I'd suggest running 3 of the 4 lights instead.
Onto the 'scape.
Maybe if you did a smaller mirror of the left side on the right, you might have a more "balanced" 'scape? Also, that lone branch sticking out seems a little akward. Might I suggest adding a couple more branches? It'll help make it look a little more natural.
Other than that, I think it looks good.
Call me Brian.
P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

do update us on the downoi's growth on Dennerle. I know they can't work in ADA.
You won't regret using anubias, but you might want to mix it with some narrow leaf/java fern. They complement each other well.
Cheers,
Andrew

brianclaw,
i'm using external reactor, blasting it. PH is 5.2 now. thanks for the reminder. i should tone down the lighting since i do not have the plant mass now.
scape wise, i'm still searching for the right wood. all current plants, rocks and wood are from my previous scape. mirror the right side is a great idea. thanks
andrewtyr,
my previous scape has narrow and needle leave java. they grow too fast for me. takes 6 months to turn my tank into jungle![]()

What shrimps is that? Today went shopping after work?![]()

commonly call armour shrimp
http://www.petshrimp.com/africanfiltershrimp.html

Hi Eddy, maybe a few rocks on the right? Also i'm not too sure if your shrimps will do well with apisto in spite of their big size. And the boraras seem like bite-sized treats for apistos.
boraras will be safe with apistos...i have a school of 10 mixed brigittae and merah in my bitaeniata tank...and this bitaeniata is particularly violent, yet i have no casualties in the boraras yet![]()

limchongyu,
i'm having trouble searching for the similar rocks since Ecoculture close down
1st time i'm going to keep Apistogramma here..
if i'd to get younger pair, will be easier for it to get comfortable with the other tankmates?
illumnae,
i have 34 boraras brigittea. may they live happy ever after![]()
generally speaking, younger fish are easier to acclimitize than older fish as they're more adaptable when young. this of course does not apply to fry, as fry are definitely very fragile. as long as the apistos are sexable, you should be fine.
Eddy.. what rocks you looking for??? maybe you should pm me..![]()

Nice setup eddy, the scape have this calming effect. Most of the plants are still in their emerse form.
Depending on what species of Apistos you want to keep. If you are keeping Apistos with large mouths, for example Ap. Cacatuoides. When the male grows to his maximum size of around 9cm. Your boraras will become a nutritious source of food for him.

genes,
all the plants are submerge form from my previous scape. i just added 10 pots of c.parva today. hopefully ranmasatome has the rocks i'm searching for.
how about Apistogramma elizabethae or Apistogramma agassizii? their max size?
my final scape will be like this. green circle=caves. red area=rocks
might remove the wood, some bros said it wasn't very natural

Beautiful space, how about some taller plants to hide the "pipe"?
...I love rubies too ...
