I got an Ista MAX MIX CO2 REACTOR and used it for a few months without a hitch. Recently I took it out to dry and tried the 24hr CO2 fusion thingy with the rainbar discussed in the forums for a while. Found it not suitable for my tnak and wanted to put the Ista back to use.

The problem is after I put it back into the tank, the impellers inside the Ista refuses to budge!

So far I have tried to clean it with hot water and such to remve any unseen debris or algae on the impellers with no effect. If I blow into the tube REAL hard, the bottom impellers will move and the top will move just slightly.

Anyone knows how to remove the impellers? It looks to be in one piece and I don't wish to force it and break it in the process.

Any help is very much appreciated.

By the way this is the link to the product: http://www.tzong-yang.com.tw/en/prod...php?itemid=118

Please do not remove the impellers as its used to mix the CO2. Maybe what you can do is go to a DIY shop and purchase a non-toxic lubricator. If all else fails, I do know that you can purchase a lubricator by Eheim from Qianhu. Cost about $20 plus...

Not a big issue..Is the air lock problem. I believe there is too much air inside the reactor. Just unplug the co2 inlet and you'll see water rush into the reactor and the impeller will spin.

Bro Stephen Chung; I tried your suggestion and it didn't work so looks like it's not the air lock problem.

Bro Aquaculture, in your opinion can I use KY jelly? It's water based and non toxic and readily available from the pharmacy near my house.

It might be there is some small sand go stuck inside..It shouldn't stop spinning so easily..

maybe soak in a diluted vinegar solution?
the KY jelly should be fine as the eheim lubricant looks and feels very similar.

Guess the KY is worth a try. Much cheaper and easier to get... do update us. It'll be a great subsititute for the Eheim lubricant when servicing my filter.

Well after tinkering with it for a long time, I finally found the cause of the jam. 1 tiny very well placed grain of sand. It was lodged nicely between the impeller and inner tube.

I removed it and it's working fine but now it leaks from the base, I may have screwed it wrongly and fractured the inner seal. Sigh... Now have to place it inside the tank but at leat it works.

Ps, the KY works great as a lubricant and so far my fish still alive so I guess it can be used for the tank till proven otherwise...
