you may have heard of ppl having problems with high lighting plants as they do not receive enuff light, my problem is the other way round.
in my 5g tank i have 2 types of anubias and 1 crypt.
the plants are in the centre of the tank and receive DIRECT lighting from the light 18W PL.
how do i prevent spot algae and other algae from growing on them? i know they need shaded areas, but my other plants are too short and do not shade them.
could reducing the number of light hrs a day help prevent algae? its currently on a 12-14hr routine.

No dark spots in the tank? Introduce more otos and yamatoes to control the algae.

I think its ok to have 18W on them directly, I used to have anubias direct under 72W (now a bit shaded in my latest redesign) and they grew really really fast! leaves coming out like no body's business and even bubbling! so don't worry too much about the 18W!

Can add floating plants, or let riccia float abt....

seen ppl place a piece of tissue just under the parts tt they want to darken a little
