I would just like to know if anyone here has show/main tank that showcases saltwater plants and macroalgae instead of the usual corals? If so, what are the basic equipments/materials to be able to attain such tanks? I am planning to setup a 50 or 75 gallon fowlr with macroalgae in the near future so as of now i am on the stage of collecting information regarding these setup of mine. i've read over the internet articles about mangroves and indeed its really beautiful.

Thank you so much in advance for any response.

    Welcome to AQ Uly!

Having a tank of macroalgae for a fowlr might be a good idea but you have to be aware that certain macroalgae species might turn asexual and could turn the water quality from pristine to bad really fast. You can keep them in small clumps and can also mix other species in your tank. What you need to be aware of is that you have to provide good flow to them too. Nutrients in the water must be adequate for them as clean water would slow or retard their growth. Lighting is another factor of growth for them.

For my case, I am growing chaetomorpha in my sump as a nutrient absorber. Before having chaeto, I had a growth spurt of an unidentified red algae on my live rock. It looks similar to riccia, a freshwater plant but mine is red in color. After the chaeto has established itself in the tank, these red algae growth has lessen dramatically.

I'll add links to this threads about macroalgae tanks if I come across it.
