200 km is nothing. Bull sharks and many other elasmobranch fishes are well-established colonisers of freshwater:

Yup, there's even documentary about them going up river in the US and had claimed a few children and adult. Research indicate that they are well aclimatised to stay in the river for prolong period of time.

It's actully this part I found rather funny.

"Locals blamed the U.S. military for the shark's presence.

Tahseen Ali, a teacher, said there was a "75 percent chance" Americans had put the shark in the water.

"This is very frightening for us. Our children always swim in the river and I believe that there are more sharks. I believe that America is behind this matter," said fisherman Hatim Karim."

Maybe they are somehow right. Maybe they are wrong that the US military purposely placed a shark in the river. Maybe they think/know that during the war, the barrier was damaged by munition dropped by the US military. Maybe they know that the foreign invader and their allies had removed the barrier so that their support craft can go up the river to provide support.

Nothing in war is funny. Innocent people are being killed by inexperienced military serviceman who had invaded into a country without the backing of the UN. Children, parents and grandparent who have been bombed while they sleep, who was shot with stray bullets, entire family line was lost due to this. We do not feel the fear, the hopelessness they felt, neighbour losing neighbour, homes were lost. Families disappeared overnight because of a single stray bomb dropped into their homes. Small children and babies burnt to a crisp, while their neighbour looking at them in disbelief. Homes collapsed into the family sleeping inside.

And after all this, they still need to survive, to find food by any means they can. And these person who was looking to find food in the river had to contend to compete with the shark. How would you feel that you need to catch fish to feed your family and a shark was also thinking the same thing? Would you still go into the river knowing that your family is waiting at home to eat what meagre catch you can get while that shark is still there? Can you even comprehend the fear they felt?

Please, do not belittle what these people had to go through. If you have nothing better to say, don't. We do not know how bad they've suffered in this illegal war.

    Nobody wants a war.

Politics should not be abused. But in reality, its a different story. Politics occur everywhere. =/ Simply hate it.

Back to sharks, i heard they won't attack humans unless they are provoked. There are some tv programmes on sharks on discovery channel, really interesting.
