I am toying with the idea of getting either one of them.

Which is better to get? What the difference?

I personally prefer to play games like soccer, RPG, etc.

    Any advise?

And any recommendation for a good deal to them?

    Thanks
    Nicholas

ps2 simply for the HUGE assortment of games and how cheaply you can get them up north..haha..the entire set is also so damn cheap.

    OR

ps3 for just how powerful it is.. but the games are going to cost you for now just because they are so expensive now and no "chiong" version..haha..

If you like RPG games, why don't you consider PC games? One thing for sure is you won't disturb anyone wanting to watch TV shows while you are gaming. If you play MMORPG like me, you will advantage from having 1 PC 1 Laptop... hehe...

Which type of RPG? Japanese or Western one?

For me, I like japanese RPG so if I have the time to play, I will get PS3.

Not ghost la, just have a healer to buff and heal the main character. Like that both level up together and save $$$

Wii for family type games, popular with children or children-alike
PS2 for the selection of games, but don't expect too much on the graphics

PS3/Xbox360 for the graphics, these days game developers are making most games available cross platforms, except for some exclusive games. with xbox and online gaming/ download trials and stuff, you need to subscribe, PS comes free. With PS3, it comes with a blu-ray drive while xbox360 has a optional HD-dvd drive.

I bought the PS3 mainly because of the blu-ray and the RPG games + xbox has always a problem with their system (some 3 red light issue), have heard owners changing their console and some have the same issues, go google "xbox 360 problems", PS3 has their lense problem when you suddenly turn off the console while it is reading the disc, the lense will fail to read any blu-ray disc. I wouldn't consider it a major problems but have heard of people getting it. I would say get either a xbox360 or a PS3

Just a note Nic, no point getting a 360 or ps3 if you don't have the TV to enjoy them. My xbox 360's graphics look horrible on my SDTV set.

That right.. looks like got to shelf the plan for the Xbox360 or PS3.

Wait for bonus and maybe get a small LCD TV.

Wackytpt, I think you missed out on one obvious choice – PSP!

Graphics is excellent for such a small gadget and you've lots of games relatively.

I used to play PC games but I had already relegated my PC to watching DVD only.
Now, I play PSP. It's handy to boot.

I would also say get PS2 for the sheer amount of games and low price, especially if you're into RPGs. Wait a year or 2 for the PS3 price to drop more, then get the PS3
