anybody been there ? i saw red ear sliders in one tank with hardly any space for basking , a SINGLE cardinal in tiny tanks w/o filters or anything else ...

things are also freaking expensive ...

can we blow the whistle on them for mistreatment ?

mm that aquarium is quite strange i saw them putting 2 nano tanks less than 1ft side by side ...1 with a marine setup 2 clown fish and 1 with a planted setup ...inside the planted tank is 1 dead clown fish i presume must have jumped over from the marine tank since its side by side...mmm such small marine setup workable? considering the evaporation rate so fast

    i saw the marine nano
so many fish packed into that small tank!
and only using a tiny hangon filter..

prices i wont really comment since rental at PS must be very expensive also
but i find their keeping of the fishes a little erhm.....

look at the betta racks, the bettas look in poor health to me

well this kind of shop's target customers are not really the serious aqaurists but more like kids and people who walk by and get attracted by the colorful plastic plants and fishes..........................

if they do not change their policy, chances are i think the aquarium shop will not survive very long.

i saw a westerner buying those all-in-one built in tank set, brand is "colorful" - comes with a FL & OH filter
taiwan or china brand i think
plus a small pack of some inert quartz gravel, a few plastic plants, a small bottle of oceanfree fish food & some slate rocks

his total cost ===> 170+ sgd

plus alot of kids pestering their mums to buy small guppy/clownfish tanks etc

im sure they are surviving well so far

Yup...second to fisherw's view. I do think that these shops are targetting at newbie or buy All ready aquarium set customers.

The price comparing to LFS are way too much.....

Guess different target group of customers...

you mean the one at century square? The shop was actually Mr Fish from Joo Chiat many years back. I don't if any bros here know of the shop but i use to browse at the shop back then as i would always drive there during lunch to check out their planted tanks. They also use to contribute articles to the Saturday classified then.

    Regards and God BLess!!

Century Square has a LFS? Or are you referring to the one at Tampines Mall basement?

yeah i think its tampines food court...well in every trade there is bounds to have black sheep..same as dogs there are a handful of unethical breeders and implusive buyers who buy cause the dogs are cute and unable to provide proper care for them. its really very sad

Their target is for those newbie who want just a tank in their office and don't bother the fish or plants suffering.

I can say it is just after $$ no hobby. I guess the shop owner also know nothing about aquarium.

Especially now almost Lunar New Year, more people will buy just for the decoration.. once both fish and plant die than they will clean the tank and throw it into store room.

Unhappy Re: Aquarium at Plaza Singapura

I feel so sad and stupid...I also got chop carrot at this shop. Bought the "Colorful" brand fish tank from them, then past by a LFS the next day, it cost only half the price! I am a newbie to this hobby...expensive lesson learned

    Re: Aquarium at Plaza Singapura

The shop had been there for very long time already, price wise think up to individual, as their rental so high.

Regards to mis-treatment, yes i agreed, that's why i never step in after knowing more on fishes.

haha. the price of one cherry barb in certain fish shops in shopping centres, i can get 10 cherry barbs in the lfs that i frequent. Sometimes I walk into the shops and browse around, and just shake my head and leave.
