Hi guys, not sure if it is appropriate for me to post this here, but would like to ask you guys for some advice.

currently i have a 3.5ft tank housing 2 plecos and 7 cories, with thin layer of gravel and lots of branchy bogwood. running on 2 external cannisters of 1000li/hr each. interested in adding in some schooling fishes into the tank so as to inject some variety and life into the setup, but am unsure of what to include given the flowrate. After some thought, these fishes came to my mind:
    1. Red Line Torpedos
    2. Congo Tetras
    3. Rummynoses
    4. Blue Tetras

Was afraid that rummynoses and blue tetras would be stressed out by the fast flowrate due to their small size, even though I love them alot. What do you guys suggest? Any form of suggestion would be welcomed. How many pieces and what kind of fish to add in?

Hi, I shifted your post out to start a new thread. It is ok to start a new thread, instead of adding on to existing threads, especially since it is a different question.

What kind of gravel are you currently using?

Anyway, in my humble opinion, since the catfish are South American, you might want to consider the South American tetras instead of the torpedos and Congos... Furthermore, torpedos and congos grow big...

In my experience, rummynoses are very good schoolers... And their colours will not take away the attention of the plecs, which I assume is the focus of your tank...
    Read me! http://justikanz.blogspot.com/

    I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii

Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...

    hey justikanz,

thanks alot for helping me start a new thread, apologise for the inappropriate posting.

i'm currently using medium-sized grey rounded gravel, although most people would prefer using fine gravel for cories and plecos. Also shifted my branchy bogwoods upside down so that the bulky bases are situated above the water level and the branches are underneath. trying to achieve a more natural look for the tank together with the grey gravel. doesn't seem to be very attractive visually but my otos, plecos (especially) and cories are loving it.

will do some research regarding south american tetras. agree that rummynoses are superb schoolers, and they are one of my favourites too! especially after they have stabilized in the tank, they look like millions of red dots moving around together in the tank from afar!

However, how many rummynoses would you recommend? also, would they be fine with the relatively fast flowrate given their small size? actually i find that there isn't much of a centre of attraction in my tank, as my 2 plecos are pretty small (slightly less than 3 inches each) and 7 normal sized sterbais, who happen to be super interactive. my 6 otos are non-existent, except when they do their occassional schooling.
