You can try the old uncle located at 96 sungei tengah. But you need to be driving though. Quite inaccessible if you are taking public transport.
Hello,
It's been awhile since my last post, but I have a query. Which LFS in the west actually sell live daphnia aka "ang boon"? I know C328 sells live BBS, but I'm trying to find a supply of live daphnia in packets, any size.
I live in Bukit Batok, if that's any indication. If you know where to get them in the west, please let me know. Thank you.![]()

Hi Stormhawk,
C328 does sells live daphnia aka "ang boon". Give a call first before you make the trip down.
Thanks for the quick replies. I am paying a visit to C328 later to collect some items. I will talk to the lady who runs the store about the "ang boon".
Sometime ago I managed to catch a post on Arofanatics, saying that a store in Bukit Gombak sells live daphnia too, except that the supply is quite erratic.

Stormhawk, just a little info I could offer here....C328 usually brings in live feed eg. bbs around 3pm. I don't know if you consider Redhill as within your radar. If you do drop by, you can visit Ah Kiong in the wet market where he sells live 'Boon' in packets (one gold coin). His stocks come every even days of the week, including Sunday. He sells only in the afternoons. Do pm me if you want to make a trip and I can confirm for you first (no relation with him).

5-minute walk from Redhill MRT station (E-W line). Take bus no.32,33,132,63,145. Bus 63 stops directly outside the market. Apologies I don't have his contact number.

Yes still around. Can get fresh live daphnia on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 3pm to 6pm to be sure. You may sms me in advance so that I can confirm for you. I stay very near to the wet market.

you may try an aquarium shop at choa chu kang bus interchange. the shop is located at blk 307, name "hong yang"
Hi, Blk 537 Bukit Batok fish shop sell ang boon. Just saw the seller scoop up small packet yesterday.
Do not know, if it is daily supply.

Geez I don't even know there's an LFS at Blk 537. I'll go and have a look one of these days. If the CCK interchange shop has a daily supply, I'd rather go there. Direct bus anyway.

Didn't have time to visit the Blk 537 LFS yet. Has anyone confirmed if they are really selling live daphnia (should be Moina instead)? Because some stores cannot tell the difference, between daphnia and BBS.
Altum, do you know their opening hours, and when the daphnia supply comes in?

confirm it is boon because lawerence the ablino guppy breeder from AF always gets his supply from him.
Opening hours are from 1000 hours to 2130 hours for tuesday to sunday
monday is from 1530 hours to 2130 hours.
The father of the shop also breeds black moscows at home.
supply is supplied by the old man who operates off LCK every other day around 1530 hours
Thanks a bunch Altum. Looks like I'll just go straight to Hong Yang instead.
So after 4pm the boon should be in then?

Yup. Though C328 only stocks live BBS not daphnia. There's a difference between the two when compared side by side, and BBS dies fast in fresh water. Daphnia stays alive indefinitely in established tanks, especially in alkaline water.
