Where to buy? Female Dario dario or pairs

As the thread title says, I'm looking for LFSes that have the female Dario dario aka Scarlet Badis for sale. Pairs will do too. I ordered a bag of 30 pieces from C328, but apparently the entire lot are male. Not a problem since they're doing fine in the small 1 footer, but if I do get females I'll have to move some of the remaining 25 or so males to the main community tank, or sell them away.

Does Y932 or Go Nature still sell these females? I remember seeing them for sale in pairs at that LFS a long time ago, not sure if they're still selling them. Any help would be much appreciated.

Last Sunday, saw bulks of badis badis at seaview but didnt notice if there any females. You can try call seaview at jalan kayu to find out.

sell me 10 males to me if you want.

most dario dario that arrive in our LFS are males. i used to hunt around for females, and the only place i've seen confirmed females are at Biotope. They had 2 females in the tank (out of alot of fish) 2 weeks back, and i managed to see 1 still remaining when i went down on wednesday...not sure if the other was sold or hiding as i didn't look too closely. another place which MIGHT have females at times is polyart. they get stocks of dario dario in very often, but i mostly only see males, and the "females" i see are suspected females, not confirmed ones like the ones i saw at biotope.

Thanks for the tip. Seaview is out of the way for me at the moment. I doubt they will stock females, since the female Dario are very drab.

I'll decide on the excess males and let you know later. They are very healthy at the moment. I had 2 deaths and 3 of them were culled since they were sickly. The remaining males are extremely active, and happily feeding on live tubifex.

illumnae, I've been to Polyart, and the remaining Dario I last saw were all males, and in less than perfect condition. They are pretty inactive, maybe because they aren't really eating. I think I did see some females when the batch first arrived, but they're gone by now. I will drop by Y932 tomorrow to have a look, since I need to go to Aquastar to look at their tank sets. Intending to replace my main 3foot community tank.


Some pictures I just took of the remaining fish. First picture shows one of the dominant males. The raggedy fins are due to some minor squabbling. Second image is of the tank they're in now. Just 2 half-coconut shells with some mosses and Java fern on the top. Pardon the image quality, taken with a handphone camera.

stormhawk: do check out biotope. i'm 100% sure that as of wednesday night they had at least 1 female, and their dario darios are in good condition and active
