here is a picture of what SEEMS to look like an immersed culture of this plant.

    http://images.google.com.sg/imgres?imgurl=http://www.aquaplanta.com.br/fotos/IMG_4119.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.aquaplanta.com.br/listar.php%3Fid%3D7&h=480&w=640&sz=18&hl=en&start=13&um=1&tbnid=abSAF7ilFABEBM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dechinodorus%2Bred%2Bdiamond%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1B3GGGL_enSG237SG238%26sa%3DG

but it could just be a submerged form but taken out of water to photograph.

    another qn is:

tropica claims this plant grows large with nutritious substrate and red with high light..
if i want it small and red.. can i just grow it under high light but planted in just normal gex plant soil that has normal ferts?

The purpose of trying to grow them emmerse for me was because i had a hard time rooting them to the soil, cause they were light and tend to float. I do not see this problem with Echindorus species.
