    Hi,

Some parts of my xmas & weeping moss seems burnt and turn brown. Why is it so..? Mine is a 2 ft, with 2x 14w T5 lighting 3inch above water surface. The temperature is never exceed 27C.

Also, anyway to make it recover? The moss don't seems as green as when they are just bought.

    Any advise?

    Thanks.

Hmmm base on my experiences, my flame & x'mas moss turn brown or black when water temperature is 27 degrees & above. Than I transfer to a much cooler tank which is 25 to 26 degrees & gradually it take weeks to turn back to the healthy colour.

Leave the brown ones, my tank hovers around 25-26 degrees and I do have some brown ones hidden behind the fresh nice green ones for my taiwan moss wall. Just a regular ammonia test if you are worried as a spike would indicate if they are dying off, of course this takes only into consideration being all things = equal

Ideal should be 25 to 26degrees. Try to reduce to 26degrees atleast.

Temperature plays apart in upkeep and how moss grow. Cooler temperatures of around 25-26 with co2 would allow moss to grow more lush and green.

You may have accidentally pressed on the mosses or too much pressure from the tying with fish line. Xmas and weeping moss are fragile and sensitive to the quality of the water. Handle with care.

    Guys

25-26 degree best for moss. But how you guys maintain that kind of temp? With chiller? With Fan can maintain only 27 degree but on cooler days can reach 25 degree for me. Don,t want to get chiller because of utilites bills . any suggestion?

How long ago did you introduce the moss into your tank?If it is new expect some melting. Most likely you will see light green/yellow tips after a couple of weeks. That is a sign that it is growing.

My Xmas moss is doing fine at 28 degrees.

I suggest spiky moss and java moss, very easy to grow. I can even grow them in a plastic container placed in my toilet!

Strange the last time I grow it in my slighly less than 1 feet tank at temp around 28 deg all melted causing the break down on my tank. that is when I concluded that air conditioned places more suitable to grow moss. where can get spiky moss?
