    Interesting... just a quick comment..
Quite recently I saw a pretty colourless adult A. mendezi in a show tank.
It has been in neutral mood for the longest time until I introduced a pair of A. Baenschi.
Guess what, it kept flaring so intensely that all its fins (caudal and dorsal) became almost blood red.
It was one of the most beautiful apisto I've ever seen..
Guess you guys get my point by now.
Till to-date, in my personal opinion, all apistos are most beautiful when they flare intensely..
It's NOT "Chee lick", NOT "Chee Chee Licks"!!! Cichlids is pronounced as "Sick Lids"!!!!!

    1. Apistogramma cacatuoides, Apistogramma agassizii, Apistogramma viejita
The above are the most commonly available.
As for the most beautiful, (as yorky mentioned) when they are flaring! If you see a gibbicep or elizabethae when they are not flaring, you would not look twice! But when they are flaring.......that's how people like me got captivated

    1) The 3 most common apisto available - cacatuoides, agassizii, macmasteri
    2) The 3 most beautiful apisto - bitaeniata, juruensis, eremnopyge
    3) The 3 most rarest apisto - Do not know how to answer this question. Rare as in Singapore? If so, then alot, impossible to name the rarest. Or rare as in wild caughts that are available in the market? Like Jurua, most specimens found today are commercially bred.

What about your views raymond? Any conclusion after reading all our views?

    For me
    1) common apisto : cacatouides, agassizii, macmasteri/viejita
    2) most beautiful : bitaeniata, elizabethae super red, still looking for the last one (maybe a group of young fries with their mother foraging in the tank)
    3) most rarest: any wilhelm grade,

Just my own point of view after looking at pictures after pictures. but i guess the view will change after actually seeing them with my own eyes swimming in tank.

    Happy apistoing.

    Hehe
