The reason was the breeder managed to get a breed out that has a red body with a white section and he smokes malboro, thus the name. This Thai breeder was the same guy that managed to come out with the Pidgeon Blood line.

Guys Guys u r talking about some wide range of red discus man. Allen are u sure u r buy the Marboro Red???? Kind of "off fashsion" but expensive fish. Usually the young discus (2"~3&quot will be bely cheap round 10 buck but bely ugly. The adult (>4&quot will be much more nicer depend on water condition but expensive (>50 bucks). They r bely tough discus.
As u guys talk about the other red strain, watermelon is actually known as red melon and I think it is getting hot as the price keep climbing, cost round 50 bucks for a >2" young fish.
As for the red doll also know as apple red or cherry red is a dono how many F of the wild Alencer. []

Yup..... named after the brand. And for the Pidgeon blood, it's due to the colur and the Thais believe that Pidgeon blood is the reddest colour to them.

    Guys,

At the risk of digging up an old debate, I believe this is what Timebomb was talking about when he picked on the lingo used in local forums.

Grammatical, spelling and syntatic mistakes are excusable, ppl just assume you're not comfortable with the language. But to purposely type like how Phua Chua Kang enunciates is another matter. This is not talkingcock.com where the content is purposely local and where the point is to make fun of the local culture and langauge usage. If we are to attract and retain international participation, I think we should make it a point to make our postings understandable.

I'm not asking anyone to sit down and spend half an hour racking his/her brains to compose a 5 sentence message in perfect english, but I believe we all know how to spell 'very', 'also' and many other simple but commonly maligned words.

I wonder if Madan or Toshi could make head or tails of Kunner's post.

Hi Simon, I didn't get any of the red Alencer too exp man[] . I was hoping they can come with some Icana red then I can consider to buy some.

Allen, your craze on discus is back!!!! Congrate!!!! Well I must say Red Melon is a beauty but is kind of exp. Where did u get it and what's the price range???

Hi Vinz, dont quite understand what u r trying to say. Or maybe I missed the discussion on "Correct English must use in this forum" topics???? If so please state clearly at Home page or u might consider to add in a "spell check" function in this forum. Thanks

    Kunner,

I'm asking forumers to refrain from intentionally mis-spelling words. It makes the message hard to read for ppl who are not familiar with singlish, mainly the non-singaporeans and non-malaysians. Why do we care about them? Cause we would like international forumers to stay and contribute some of their own experiences in the hobby, so that there is an in-flow of fresh ideas and info. However, the main goal of AQ is still to provide a place where local hobbyists can discuss, debate and learn about the hobby and also to promote the hobby locally.

What I'm picking on is spelling of simple words like 'also' and 'very'. As it is, some ppl find it hard to understand Singlish sentences, without having to decrypt 'oso' and 'bely' into 'also' and 'very'.

I'm not saying that perfect english must be used in here. If a person can't spell 'fertiliser', 'filtration', 'cichlids' or 'echinodorus', I don't care... the approximation of it is good enough for ppl to understand. If a person uses 'is' when he should be using 'are', I don't care... it's only grammar, most ppl will still understand .

I'm not saying that you must type good english to be allowed to post here. I'm only saying that if you know how to spell the word correctly, please do so.

Finally, Kunner, I'm not intentionally picking on you. It's just that your post provided a good example.

    Kunner,

There was a discussion sometime back. Anyway, it was agreed that something has to be done to preserve the quality of this forum while still having the flexilbilty to post leisurely. Hope you understand.

I'm sure that the comment by Vinz is not targetted at you so please don't take it personally.
    Cheers!!
