I used to have 5 rummy nose but now left with 2. I had 3 mollies but now 2. Oto used to be 2 in nos but now only 1!

What could have happened? I fed my fishes almost every other day . There's no dead bodies, skeletons or any other remains of the missing fishes. I'm puzzled! Tried to offer myself some ideas but it just doesn't work. My tank is not heavily planted thus its easy to see the rear of the scape to locate any missing fishes.

Has this ever happen to any of you? Sometimes it spooks me...

Most likely something is devouring the fishes.

You keep a cat at home?

    rizal,
just sharing my experiences. Perhaps it will help you locate the fishes. I have a 10L with hof. Inlet is default, without the sponge but holes are small enough. My tank make up is just HG on foreground, with moss at backdrop. so anything goes missing, im sure to know.

There were 3 instances my fishes, namely boraras B. swim up the filter outlet into the filter. How, dont know as it had to swim against the current...Theres was a time where i found 1x missing fish sandwiched between the course pad and the filter wool. So it stayed out of view for about a day till i tore my filter medias apart.

even when fish dies, they do leave traces. You can see from LFS, when a fish dies, it doesnt get eaten up right away and it takes days for the carcass to be completely consumed. Decomposition works even slower as it has to be broken down. However, if you have a larger tank and the inmates are tearing up the dead fishes into bits, then finding them in the midst of the flora will be difficult.

the onlycarcasses i have real problem finding are shrimps.

Cld be a possibility but my tank is fully covered, those Boyu tanks. Have asked my Domestic Helper if she saw any dead fish, but she said no.

Nope. No cats at all. Cld my maid replaced my molly with ikan bilis instead for my nasi lemak?

Hhhmm... i understand wat u mean. My tank is using OHF with the filter inlet using those tiny grilles. Tried to find the carcass in between the woll and media but to no avail.

I've seen carcasses of my late shrimps. but tis molly is to big to miss my eye... Sad sad..

you keep a lot of shrimps in ur tank? They usually clean up the carcass very quickly, even the skeleton... That happen to a few of my tanks.

One other predator; lizards, see if any lurking around. My past lost includes cherry shrimps and tetras.

Lost quite a number of cherry shrimps till I put a cover on the tank now.

friend! i also recently discovered (actually just today) that my 11 neons are down to 7 neons now!! best part, there's no carcass in the OHF and definitely not in the tank!!

i have no idea where they went to, so the only possibility is my angelfish swallowing them in whole which is quite a crazy idea to think about....

I lost a female caca orange flash some time ago, and I still can't find the carcass. I checked the floor, but nothing. its still missing.

The thread I made is still somewhere in this forum.

This was what happened to my shrimp tank, the shrimps gathered near the inlet at night, easy prey for lizard waiting nearby.

Carcasses could have been eaten up by shrimps, snails and other fishes by the time you noticed. Or decomposed and disintegrated to and extent that they don't look like fishes anymore.
