Disaster! Came home and found one of my rams passed away. It was the ram with the elongated body. Hey 'mictok', I think you are right; both of them are males. And I noticed that the dead ram has an injury on its body - there was like a blood clot on it. So I guessed the other ram could have attacked it. Sad![]()
All balloon ram is male, breeder dont sell female thats what Y618 told me. All balloon ram is from Holland.
Also one of the tank that filled with balloon ram are infected with ICK, the auntie didnt realize until i told her.![]()

Oh my...that's sad to hear. Well, I will monitor my ram closely for any illness. And any idea which LFS has any female balloon rams? Thanks 'blue33'.
This might be useful:

Don't know if it is accurate but the pictures help.
They tend to be difficult to sex. I got the chap at a lfs to catch me a pair but a couple of days later, both developed red bellies so I assume both are females. So what blue33 was told might not be correct.
What?! Now, my two rams are female instead of male. 'Fisherw', thanks alot for the link. I took a look closer at my two rams photos and yes, both of them have black markings on the pelvic fins and they have blue spots on their black markings. Yikes! But wait...can two female rams be aggressive to each other to a point where they fight to their death? However, I noticed that both of them liked to 'bite' each other but after a while they seemed to get along well. But they will repeat these actions again. Hmmm...
Its not easy to get a pair from the same batch as their sex can be easliy identify so the breeder will separate them before selling to LFS.Alternatively to get a confirmed pair is to spend on the german ram which some LFS like Y618 or C328 is selling but pepare a pay a higher price. If your wallet doesnt allow then you will have to spend time to visit a few LFS to get a pair as they usually have a whole batch of male or female at a time.

Eeeks...I'm not ready to spend that amount on a pair yet. I've to scout around at the LFS for the other mate then.
If I've the money, I'll invest in a apisto couple; got attracted to them while was at Biotope.Anyway, thanks 'mictok'
If there are no females, how did Shadow manage to spawn them?

I am not convinced that they are from Holland, more likely from Asian farms. Or perhaps East Europe.
for the female rams, you may want to try farmart or Hongyang of CCK loop. He occassionally have them in pairs though. But do get ready to pay a premium for them as some of the brothers here mentioned.
Alternatively, you amy also want to try the LFS at Limbang Market.
Cheers!
'Quixotic', thanks for sharing that interesting video. I think my job is easier now since I've to find a male ram instead of a female. Anyway, thanks altumlover for the info.
