How to plant emersed plant?

Just bought some plants from Teo, some are emersed and are quite huge, big wide leaves and all. Just how am I supposed to plant them? Teo says for tennullus, just cut off the emersed leaves and wait for submerged leaves to grow, so I chopped off most off the big leaves and planted the stems with tiny leaves left on it. good or bad idea?[:0]

Hi, thats what teo told me too for tenellus.. i did as told and within few days new leaves have started growing. As for emersed plants, i got emersed e.quad from him and plant it like the rest, its also growing now but not sure if its the right way to do it.[

hi chaq, i did the same but some of them grow well,some turn yellowish while some turn black. funny thing is that just as i thought ther were dead n wanted to pull them out, i saw new root n leaves growing. does anyone know why? wat wrong with my planting?

just plant them and they r change... not all plants survive after a trim like the E. tenellus

i was wondering.. can we plant emersed plants in pots? or we need special soil and fert for it???

growing them emersed is much easier, and since they are already in their emersed form too, for soil, u may wanna get aquatic soil and the soil needs to be damp

For Swords, cutting off all the emersed leave is the norm to get them submersed. It is fine if you leave all the leafs alone also.

For other stem plants, no need to cut anything, just plant them and the submerse leaf will grow.

If you want to keep them emersed, you can plant them in anything that is wet enough. Soil, mud, gravel, sand, peat moss, cocopeat, LECA anything.
