My Hongsloi II Fries. 2 Weeks old.

Got the wonderful pair from nice bro here and within 2 weeks a spawn!!

Pardon the poor pictures as the fries are really small and can't get a good shot of them. They are well hidden in all the plants but I guess this spawn have about 40 fries.

Nonetheless can't help but want to share my JOY!!

Thanks dude. Yeap, the pair spawn before

It is the most successful spawn i have. Will only be able to do a better count when the fries are bigger and no longer hidding so much.

It is such a joy watching the mum herd the fries around. Took out the male after seeing the female keep chasing him away. Not too sure if the male did attack the fries.

Should I remove the female eventually?

Am using ADA African, PH approximately at around 4.5.

Wow great... One big batch of fries with ADA African, PH approximately at around 4.5... That's why i'm wandering about... Low ph high spawn?
If you remove the female now you can't see her caring for her little children now... Really nice to see caring mothers looking after little kids... Depends whether you see the female attacking her fries a not? For me, i remove once the male after a few days the female into a opposite tank and the mother saw her fries will still wanting to go over to care for them... I really make a mistake that time end up 7 fries i raise now left 3... Quite young fries when i remove both parents...
    Cheers,

Am not too sure abt the low PH inducing bigger spawn, still very new to Apistos. Perhaps other bros here can share?

What I did notice is that, if I do massive WC simulating a heavy downpour and a change of PH. It kind of trigger the ready pairs to go into the "mood"

I am afraid i was a little late to remove the male, think he was nibbling at the fries. Hope not much casualties.

As for the female, will keep it as long as a month in the tank unless she takes her young for food. Agree with you, the sight of the mother herding and caring for young is truly amazing. Mother nature at her best. Pity is I don't have a good digi camcorder to record all this down.

The "nice bro" got 2 batch of spawn and the fries are 1cm now from the 1st batch
Keep the female and feed her some tetra bit,you can see her smashing it thru her grill into fine piece and the fries will feed on them.
