Would like to ask a rather foolish question. My T5HO fixture has 2 switches and each switch controls 2 tubes.

If i were to take out one of the tubes, will there be any detrimental effect? ie. one switch is switched on but with only 1 tube in the socket.

Electricity is still being used? Effects on ballast if any?

    Thanks

When i was doing DIY lighting for my set up, i did have a discussion on this with the lighting shop ppl.
I was told that it is not advisable to do what you mentioned above.
If the e-balast is ment to run 2 tubes, make sure 2 tubes are attached to it.
Otherwise, should buy an e-balast which is ment for 1 tube.
