Are you planning for iwagumi scape? If so, I suggest to put one big rock, much bigger than the rest as a main piece.
Dear all,
After a tired 180cm tank, now wanna move into a simple, but hard to setup tank - THE ROCK!!! Got myself almost whole to move in and out several rock, finally come out with this idea, and hope other can give some opinion, therefore make it much nice looking tank.![]()

iwagumi refers to rock scape. with the use of plants.
Iwagumi still using plants but the main focus of the scape is on rock formation. usually the plants that being used is foreground/short plants, sometime tall plant also being used at the back. The idea is to make the rock formation to be prominent.
Dear Shadow,
Yes, I am planning a Iwagumi setup in my tank. I am still looking for a suitable big rock to take over the left hand site rock formation.
Iwagumi is another project that I really looking forward to, something for me to relex myself while looking at the simple but manificent wild grass land. My six foot tank really make me dizzy while looking at it.![]()
Anyway, really appreciate your help, and looking forward to let you all see the new setup after I found my "precious stone".

I agree with Shadow, the rock is too small. Your setup will look flat - if that's the look you're trying to achieve. Flat setup can be nice if you have a carpet of grass but if you're going to do without plants, I would suggest at least one bigger rock.

It's not always the quantity of rocks that matters.
The sizes and placement is more important and you can choose suitable sizes based on the width and height of your tank.
An example, the use of more pieces but smaller rocks will project a deeper and more distant scape (especially if you have a tall tank).
Of course, you have to match the rocks with matching plants and livestock, in terms of size.

Personally I feel that the rocks that you're currently using are too small for the tank and lacks character...
Next project: Converting my 3ft freshwater fish planted tank into a shrimp tank.
Hi all, after while, this is an update for my 60cm tank, planted for about 3 month, feel free to give comment.
