Nice set up indeed! But notice your betta alittle skinny isn't it? Or did my eyes tricked me?

    Thanks....

He's not skinny at all -- eats his weight in food twice a day. I think it's the angle at which he hovers in the photos

I think he should be the happiest veiltail. haha.
I think you have such a nice tank, might as well buy a better breed of betta.

Maybe, crowntail. $2 and he looks stunning.

The aircon doesn't affect him at all 'cause the aquarium it heated. The PC light also gives off a bit of heat.

The better breed of Bettas aren't $2 here... They're in the $5+ (USD) range and for an aquarium at work, I wouldn't spend that much on the fish. The lower quality Bettas are just as beautiful Besides, it's the lower quality ones that need the most saving from the horrible little cups they're kept in at the pet store

How true this is, i know why they do it. But just because of their aggression doesnt mean they deserve to be kept in tiny cups/bags small 4x4inch (est) containers. Appaling.

On to the tank, nice little set-up. Idealistic for such a fish. I'm sure he's rather content in his home watching you go about your duties at work

He does seem content besides being very grouchy ;-) He's very friendly, too... comes right out to meet anyone who happens to come within his view.

You are one kind soul... Lucky betta, I must say.

Just wondering... will the plants cope with the low pH needed for the betta?

Wait... Those are REAL plants, right?

  13. #13
Yes they are real plants The pH is at neutral -- where it should be for Bettas. However, some of the plants could cope with a gradual decrease in pH as well as temp. Low pH will cause damage to the fins of Bettas. Not sure why some people keep them that way to be honest -- or how they manage to keep the fish alive under those conditions.

It's natural habitat is as such - acidic water. But if you can manage to keep yours at neutral, that's good, then.
