    Hello Storm,

Before answering the questions, I hope that the next time you do a post, please make use of the 'Shift' key on your keyboard. Also punctuate and capitalize your message where necessary - it makes for an easier and nicer reading.

That said, the mass eggs order was way over. The next mass eggs order - if any - will be a few months down the road. Regarding the price, if you had read the posts and follow-up on the website concerned, you will know how much the eggs costs.

Do read through the main web-site - www.killies.com to find out more about killies. This will make your decision on what type of killies to keep slightly easier.

By the way, what is your objective in starting a killies tank - to enjoy their beauty only or to enjoy and also breeed them?

Befor answering your question, I will definitely capitalize whenever necessary. As for you, you have not answered my questions at all and furthermore i seriously think that there you have some attitude problem.

But anyway, thanks for your valuable advice and I wil be keeping Killiesfor their beauty and if possible to breed them.

    Thanks

    Yours sincerely,
    Storm

    Dear "What's-Your-Name" Storm,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for capitalizing what is needed.

You'll be quick to realize that all the people who run this forum have 'attitude problems', myself included. It's not so much a 'problem' since it works out for the better over the long haul.

Simplified, it's a matter of adapting to a different mindset or culture. So long as we abide by what's stated in the "stickies", I see no friction since our end-goals are the same... maintaining and breeding killifishes!

About the egg-ordering, so far we've organised 2 egg-buying exercises. Au and myself jointly organized the 1st order on Nov 20th 2003. I did a little page on what I bought and feedback from the rest of the participants can be found here.

Zul, the one you claim with the attitude problem , organized the 2nd, arrived on 20th May 2004 and as reported-back in this thread.

While I regret to say that response to the 2 exercises has been luke-warm, I'm glad that new members are asking about it. If you can't wait, try posting to the Trading forum and see if your fellow forumers have anything to offer for sale.

I'm quite pleased to hear that. Most newbies just want killies to add color to their tanks! Appreciating these little jewels is one thing but breeding and raising them, IMHO, provides the most satisfaction.

if i want clown killi , is it available?
Why specifically Pseudepiplatys annulatus, or as you know it, 'Clown Killie'? What draws you to this surface-dwelling fish? Share it with me

    Hi Ron,

I have seen the Clown Killies at a hobbyist's place. Its beautiful, especially in his 4/5ft planted tank. On a personal basis, I also prefer those fishes that are not too colourful. Fishes that are too colourful gives the "marine" fishes feeling. Keeping fishes( No matter what species) should be to breed them and not to beautify the tank and when they are dead,we simply replenish them. Breding fishes is the crux of fish keeing( IMO)

Thanks for the information. Iwillbe reading up a bitmore before buying those fishes. Anyway , I have asked my friend who is in Australia to keep a lookout for me if there are killies' eggs over there.

    Thanks

    Yours sincerely,
    Storm

    Hi Storm,

Welcome to the world of killies!

For your info, Australia is a country which is very strict on live imports into the country. Hobbyists there are facing the problem of obtaining killifish from other hobbyists overseas. I doubt your friend would be able to send it to you!

A piece of advise from my past experience. You should hunt around locally to see if any hobbyists here have the fish for sale. The survival rate is much more higher as compare to getting the eggs from overseas.

Pseudepiplatys annulatus eggs are rather small and hard to handle. That's why you hardly see them available amony hobbyists in overseas.

I suggest you hunt around the LFS here to find the adults inported from Indoinesia and then start to breed them.

Yun Feng Aquarium sometimes will bring them in from Indonesia.

Below is the contact and you can call them and check with them..

I seriously wonder who is the one with attitude problem . Storm, I hope you can refrain from using harsh word on anyone, especially a Mod .

Welcome to the forum anyway. If you want eggs or fish, just ask nicely in the Trading post.

    Hi 'Storm'*,
You're more likely to find various genus of the rainbowfish more readily available from 'Down Under' but if your friend is resourceful enough, he may seek out Killie clubs that we're not aware of. Getting eggs to or from there, as Au pointed out, is another story.

Fellow-forumer, Michael Klinger from lovely Pennsylvania, also enquired about the elusive Pseudepiplatys annulatus in this thread. The question is somewhat parallel and you may find some relevant answers there.

    * BTW, you're safe to tell me your name and no, unlike 'Budak', I won't bite

Gan, I think not everyone will expect moderators to be so active and 'on-the-ball' here, but they'll come to realize that it's common sense and basic courtesy to observe house-rules, and be cordial to fellow forumers.

Those people that have problems are just not used to the way we do things. Some will hate it but they'll stay, because we offer sensible solutions, are responsible for what we say and at the end of the day, we are still nice folks to hang around with!

Too many rules will make us look like the 'Men-In-White' running a nanny state.... urm... I meant forum!

Now that I've lowered your blood pressure, let's get back to killies

Gan, don't worry, no offence taken from Storm's reply.
He's right in a way, I didn't fully reply his questions.

    I'll second that.

Anyway, in case nobody notice, the stickies have been moved to the Notice Board sub-forum.

Zul, I was tempted to reply to Storm's message but decided to hold back. From past experiences, I know I will regret posts sent in anger.

I must say though I'm really glad I made you moderator. I'm giving you a promotion . I think you deserve it. You are now also moderator of 2 other subforums here.

Been there, done that and regretted it many times over. There'll come a time when we can sit back and pride ourselves in resolving issues with a huge dose of diplomacy. Resigning in anger will fail to uncover fallacies.

Why do I see my friend rolling his eyes and knocking his head on the wall

Congrats, Zul. Now you can cover me when I go for that much-deserved holiday
