    Hi all,

I'm looking for information about Rivulus cryptocallus. Has anyone here raised this species?
    Regards,

I had them several years back. IMHO, they are one of the prettier Rivs.

I bred them in a 5G tank that had a lot of Java moss, but not a lot of light. I liked their green irridescence from room light coming in from the side glass, so subdued top light seemed like a good idea. Easy fish with big eggs that they dumped into floated mops. Tight covers are mandatrory or they will go "walking." They get big for a Riv.

I think I just moved mops to a hatch-out container with water similar to the parents, for the eggs to hatch. I fed babies and parents a lot of bbs, but the parents got worms, flakes and anything else I was feeding my adult fish.

I vaguely remember they would not take flakes from the LFS, but I had some high-grade Sanders BS flakes they would eat (all my killies would eat those or the ones from BS Direct).

    Thanks Wright.
Do you remember how long is the incubation period?

About 2-3 weeks, as I recall. A bit longer than other Rivs, I think.

PS. Since my memory is my second-shortest thing, don't take that as gospel.

I had the Rivulus cryptocallus once. They came as eggs from a friend living in Brazil. The eggs hatched half an hour after arrival and I got quite a good number of fry. They're tough fishes so I managed to raise all of them without any casualties. I've never collected eggs but a few fry appear in the tank. I saw an egg once and it was huge, much bigger than a Notho egg.

Unfortunately, I lost all of them through Camallanus worms. I still have some pictures though.

    Here's a female

The male has a blue sheen on its body

If you look closely, you can see a worm sticking out from their vents. At that time, I didn't have levamisole so the fish eventually died.
