hey, for the last couple years i have owned a pair of Nothobranchius rachovi, notho blue fins, and recently my male died he was my favorite fish, and my tank is just not the same without him, i have to find another one, does anyone live in or near the bay area and know of a breeder or a fish store where i can find another male? i know i can find them online but shipping costs are so high for just one fish so i would rather drive somewhere locally, let me know, thanks guys

Go to the BAKA web site, www.sfbaka.net , and sign up for the mail list.

Post this request there, and you should get a good response. They are a friendly bunch.

    Hello "neb123",

Welcome to the forum. As Wright had mentioned, San Francisco Bay Area has a number of killie keepers.

Just a few pointers, we appreciate if you could do proper punctuation and paragraphing on your posts as it makes reading easier.

We will be very pleased if you are also able to sign off with your real name. We hope that you have an enjoyable stay here.

Wright, we are friendly too. Just that there is some house rule that we would appreciate everyone to follow.

I am breeding some Rachovii, so thought that if he is near my bay area. I don't mind pass him a male. (I have 4 male and 2 female Notho. Rachovii Nicuadala now.)

    Neb123,
Actually hatching from egg is not a bad idea also. Consider they fact that they are annual. Hence you will need to "replace" them once per year. So please consider breeding them or else you will have this problem every year.

In this forum, we address each other with real name. So please signoff with your real name or use your real name as nick (like me).

There are many strain of Rachovii. If you don't tell us which strain, we can't find the matching male for you. In such case i assume yours is aquarium strain (meaning mix strain). Which deter some serious breeder in giving/ selling you the fish.

I dont know the strain, the fish were bought from a fish store so im sure it was mixed, im not too interested in the strain as i am simply trying to find another male for my tank, i am not interested in breeding them or anything

i tried to breed my pair a couple times it didnt work out, they did not seem too interested in each other

Hi, In that case i recommend all boys team in your current tank and keep a pure Notho. Rachovii Beira98 in your breeding tank.

The fish are annual, die every year. The only way to secure they is to breed them. Fish not interested in each other maybe because they are from different species after all.
