I would just luvsome of these to go with my Fp. marmoratus Mbonge...
Folks,
In a private order last year, which added new species to my tanks, were two young pairs of SPL Mbonge that was coloring up beautifully. These two beauty under my care was a backup for Kho, who has the other pair.
I'm now raising some of their fry but would to share with you, pics of a matured pair from the Mbonge population.

Someone asked me, in private message, if I had 'doctored' the pics to enhance the colors and I must admit yes.
The digi camera I'm using, a Canon PowerShot A85, has limitations in adjustments with flash exposure under macro mode and often over-expose more than I'd like to. All editing or 'doctoring', if I may, are for brightness and 'Black balance' so that the images don't appear washed out. No adjustments ever, for Hue or Color Saturation.
Tinkering with image adjustments also help with reflective glare on the acrylic photo-tank. Tilting the camera downwards produced better results but these will never show full-frontal view, as seen in the top 3 pics.
The following 2 images were edited for 'Black' and brightness...

... and this one wasn't adjusted. Which would you prefer?
Although pictures say a thousand words, you really ought to see the Mbonge in person... it's really something. Enjoy!![]()

Tyrone, is it a coincidence or what? You seem to love everything I'm putting up and I'm feeling 'endangered' (like when the killie-boys goes around my tanks with a net)Originally Posted by TyroneGenade

Ron, :P... how soon/much would they be available for us to "pick them up" at your place? I have to mop the floor every time you post picture.
KeeHoe.
Kee Hoe,
The 'Mbonge' fry are still growing up and not sexable now but I'll try to make the SPL 'Moliwe' and 'Ekondo Titi' available at our next gathering.
These SPLs don't breed like rabbits, or guppies, so there'll be limited pairs/trios. Can't promise anything but I'll try my best.
Meanwhile, just keep a mop next to your PC, like me
PS: Wait till I post the pictures of SPL 'Bamukong Ombe River System 1999'... it's another knock-'em-dead splendopleure.![]()

Svein, I think it's cool to have killie-nuts meeting up and do keep us posted how the symposium went. Please bring along your digi camera too <hint hint> [it's the only way we get to 'see', even though we're not there in person]
If you get the chance to speak to Alf & Anita, please convey my compliments to them, for sharing those beautiful pics and maintaining a great reference site.
Can't wait to hear what new Chromas you bring home!

PS: Wait till I post the pictures of SPL 'Bamukong Ombe River System 1999'... it's another knock-'em-dead splendopleure.Thats another good look'n fish that is a "real" SPP not a cf. SPP like the Mbonge and Ekondo Titi. The Moliwe are also "real" SPP. But the even better news is that Sonnenberg says he is ready to publish so we can expect to play the name game soon. We should probably all start practicing our pronounciation and spelling of Chrom-aph-y-o-se-mion.:-)
I'm told the SPP Muyuka that my old Prof caught in Cameroon in 2003 are breeding like rabbits... but they lay their eggs into gravel(!) not the mops. I will be pocketing a few of those to bring back to Italy when I go home for visit in a few weeks time.
Svein, do you know if Alf and Anita breed Fp. marmoratus Mbonge? I'm looking for some fresh genes to breed into my group. I don't like only starting with a single pr.
Keep well
Ron, That is more than one month in time. I think by then my Notho. Egg Ruhoi River Tan98/12 is ready for spawn. Just hatch about 30 fry yesterday and 2/3 is free swiming now while less than 10 belly slider. They are feeding and improving. Those who still have problem will be taken into another container for treatment. (O2 bath).
KeeHoe.

I have loaded the camera, so I will put some picture next week![]()
Tyrone:
Yes they have Fp. marmoratus, so I shall talk to them.

Hi all,
Here's to digging up another old thread, this one from almost 2 years ago.
I still have a small group of Mbonge in a 2ft display tank and six months ago, I think, separated two pairs into their own tanks. The chilly monsoon season didn't do a thing for them and since I need to cut back on maintenance, regrouped all the adults again.
Quick shot of a male from small breeding tank.
Since he didn't have a sparing partner, the finnage extensions are intact and quite nice.
My friend, who's backing-up a Mbonge pair, reported recently that he's gotten some fry, so I remain hopeful that this population will still have a chance to establish itself. Enjoy!
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,
Ronnie Lee
