    Hi all,

I'm posting this thread here to get some orders for a book which I've found to be pretty useful for SAA keepers. So for those who are interested please read the details below and let me know if you intend to get a copy.

It is by far the most detailed publication around with regards to information on South American Annuals. Data like captive conditions, egg sizes, fry sizes and suitable food sizes. Plus geographic information per region and other data like symbiosis amongst SAA killifish is also listed and published in the book.

The author, Dr Roger Brousseau, has spent time collecting in Venezuela and Brazil over several years.

Title: South American Annual Killifish (Cyprinodontiformes : Rivulidae)
    Author: Dr Roger D. Brousseau
    Version: v 2.2.0

The image shows a cover of v 2.1.0. I'm sorry but I don't have an image of the latest issue's cover. The current book is the latest in the series since the first issue was published in 1994.

Price per book is USD $18 (airmail postage included in the price).
That works out to roughly SGD $30 per book.

Let me know if you're interested.

    Hi Jian Yang,

Count me in for the book.

Besides that, there is another book which I hope to get. It is the Dr Werner Neumann's book 'Die Hechtlinge", or Pike-like killies from AKA Publications. Covering fishes of the genera Epiplatys, Episemion, Pachypanchax, Pseudepiplatys and Aplocheilus.

I think the book will be available only after AKA convention and to members only. I am not a member so I am hoping that any AKA member here can help me to get the book. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ong Poh San

    Hi Poh San,

Thanks for joining up. By the way, that book was originally printed by the DKG. If you can read German I think you can obtain a copy via the DKG website.

Good luck on getting the book. The convention is on May 28 this year, about the same time as our planned gathering and coincides with the 3rd day of Aquarama. Just a month more to go and you'll get your chance.

If its not too expensive I'd like to get a copy myself, but that will be a separate order thread.

JY, count me in. Hope it is written in simple english and with lots of diagram and photograph. Because i am quite poor in imagining how a fish looks like base on description alone.

    Hi Kee Hoe,

It's pretty simple to understand actually. I believe Dr Brousseau has added in photographs and extra data since the 1st edition.

Kho, if you wish to co-ordinate on behalf of the Taiwanese for Dr Roger's book, I think a separate order would be better since the shipping addresses are too far apart (doesn't make sense to ship to SG, then to TW )

Caution to whoever is doing the work at the other end, but payment should be upfront as money issues can be sensitive.

On a positive note, I'm glad we will soon have at least 4 copies locally. Is there no interested parties from across the Causeway?
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

    Hi Kho,

I'll suggest that you just pass the contact to the Taiwanese and get them to contact Dr. Roger. This will be a better soultion since they do have a few forums and enough members who can do the ground work. We can't just hold their hands throughout.

    Jianyang,

Anything related to SAA how can I be miss out! Count me in for a copy too.

Hi Kho, Dr Roger's website is here.
The site has not been updated since late last year due to personal reasons.
I'd suggest you tell the Taiwanese to contact him on their own.

I'm restricting the order to just SG members of the forum for now to make things simple.

Au, I've added you up. I thought you had a copy in your hands already.

He has Paypal and I have my own account as well, only thing is whether his account is set up to accept payments via credit/debit card.

If you have some cash balance in your account then you can help us settle the bill if his account isn't the premier account. I'll let you know the total by this Sunday.

By the way, left you an email. Do check it. Thanks.

I forgot to add, the seller also has eggs of Austrolebias carvalhoi available at USD $15 for 15 eggs. These were collected recently.

This species is considered to be "extinct" in the wild. Found in the areas around União Vitoria, Santa Catarina state, Brazil.

Those who are interested please let me know.

Haha Choy you really should explain what that whole line meant. It's colloquial speech yes, but I bet Wright and Bill might not know what it means.

So who will babysit those eggs?
