Nice shots Kee Hoe, too bad I don't have them anymore. Anyway, here's a shot of a male that I had previously, just for comparison.

Thanks, JianYang. The point to note is. These photo were taken from the Panasonic FX7, point and shoot camera.

    Mine also point and shoot.

Your model should have a macro function. If the focusing is quick you can get fast and decent shots. With macro you get to see all the details on the fish.

This fish quite difficult to shoot because the colours are iridescent and they don't stay in one spot for long. That was a lucky shot for me but not the best since the blue pattern in the fins reflected back the flash. I would have preferred to get natural colours like those in your image but my camera is limited by its abilities.

I like your first shot. For me I just can't seem to get a decent shot of them in natural colours, always reflected colours instead.

Thanks JianYang. I maximise my luck by jamming 12 male into one small container. After they get used to the surrounding and light, the photo session begin. I think these are still young. The blue colour is not intense at all.

They are peaceful for the time being. Would expect them to play rough when they are more sexually mature.

I had some other picture taken more on the Arts and Focus-playing type of photograph that are more suitable as Art than in killi section. I was toying with the idea of getting a SLR for this type of shot. But looks like i can save the money for more species as this is good enough for me.

    Jianyang,

What had happened to the pair you were raving about not too long ago? Guarding the big pond up there ?

    Kee Hoe,

    Do you have any females?

I've been trying to raise many S. magnificus but somehow or other, the fish keep dying on me. It's not like my tanks are unsuitable for them. I have great success with S. fulminantis and now, I have hundreds of them.

Selena once said S. magnificus is easy. Shucks, to me, they're damn difficult.

If you have any females to spare, I'll be very grateful.

Hi KL, No problem. But the ratio is heavily on male side. I get 20male and 3female on the one and only successful hatch from the species.

Will bring along a female (MAG) when i visit you. But i am not sure when as i have been quite busy recently.

Well, when i bought the fishes from Selena. She told me the ratio of the species is even. Although i am quite happy to have so many boys patroling my tank for mosquito larva.

Had done some checking around and found that many killi lover classify S.MAG as a pain~in~the~***.

To make sure i enjoy my lunch tomorow without too much explanation. I think i should drop the subject now.

Kee Hoe, since we're all sharing (and showing off) the beautiful magnificus, here's mine.

It's unfortunate that my batch was also 'male heavy' and served by one lone female, I'm hoping to collect some viable eggs soon. Maybe then I'll tweak the water parameters for more balanced sex ratio. Good luck with yours.

Just remember to wet and re wet your peat often to find more fry. They would most likely be laying egg once every few days.

I think i can replace all my neon tetra with MAG male. They are more interesting as the spend most of the time finding excape route.
