Got the tank this morning, connected to my existing tank 2028 filter and chillier [Teco TR10] in a manner that the filter outlet is from the small tank [2 x 1 x 1] and the filter inlet goes into the big tank [4 x 1 x 1], plus have some extra piping so that the water levels equalise and now have one chiller & filter running two tanks.
The layout needs a bit of work, but didn’t want to use anything new so everything had to come from the existing setup to avoid cycling issues, Tank is a 4 x 1 x 1 and can play around with it at leisure.

like it... looks simple and nice. do you use a lot of mini nanas, or normal nana?
4 X 1 X 1 must be quite a challenge. It's like a high light set up. Still looks a bit sparse though.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Interesting....
No fish??
Finally started my first tank
I have lots of nana petite, and once it has attached itself to the rock it is a very sturdy plant. I have some miniature bolbitits which has fronds that grow about 2 inches long. This is a slow grower and I do not have enough of it for it to be seen in the picture.
Hi Benny, yes it is a bit sparse, it is partially due to it being a low tech tank that survives on ambient light most of the time [except when I am having a drink in front of it] so the hair grass is very thin, the end off the tank the furtherest from the window it is even sparser.
I put a patch of white sand in the middle which is kept clean by the current, but makes picture taking a lot harder
No fish, just some Cherry Shrimp and some CRS
Perhaps to get a better sense of depth, you might need to use smaller stones so that the tank will look bigger and that you can have more rocks to play around in the front to back range. Cause currently your rocks are quite big in relatively to the tank and you are restricted in putting them in one line.
4x1.5x1.5 is quite tight to play with, let alone a 4x1x1.

Thanks Rock, the tank is a play tank so happy to experiment and see what eventuates after each experiment. I have been trying to make the big rock look like a mountain, I remember the taiwanese tanks of a few years ago and thought a few additions might add some perspective.
the white sand and a low end point and shoot camera make getting a good photo difficult
haha.. I always wanted to have a tank like that with small houses and statues to become looks like 3-D painting...![]()
