Great! Whats the specifications like? I'm currently using an 8 outlet beatle which i further split into a total of 16 outlets and the noise is driving me crazy...

i think any pump, even hiblow,if used in an air con bedroom is bound to be a bit annoying, unless you happen to like a humming noise to lullaby to sleep.
Granted the beetle is noise after a while.
the last time i used this brand called "WHISPER" which is european i think and it is probably very quiet as the name suggest, but it is not so big capacity as the hiblow. Maybe that's why it is quiet.
    imho.

If the vibration of the pump is the concern, you may want to try insulating it in a styrofoam box, stuff with sponge/wool or whatever that might dampen the noise. Sitting the air pump on foam/sponge softens the noise somewhat for my case.

Don't think hi blow baby can support up to 16 outlets.
    It has 2 settings.
    Low: 3.5 litres / min
    High: 6.5 litres / min

    hi,
not to sound antagonistic, but i had tried this, and it impedes the air circulation and the heat transfer, and this in the long run shortens the life of the air pump.
my personal experience with bigger pumps though.
    cheers.

    What about 7 outlets? Adequate?

I am also interested in getting 1 set. This should be slightly under a $100 right?

I tried insulating it with foam before too, but the pump gets hot.

I really can't tell what 6.5 litres / min can do, so can't say whether it can support up to 7 outlets I am only using it for 2 tanks but it is definitely more than adaquate for that even when set to 'low'.

Yeah, it costs slightly less than $100.

I just realised the beatle i'm using is 20L/min....which means hiblow baby is definitely underpowered for me.

You might want to consider Hiblow-20 then.
You can check the specs here: http://www.kockneykoi.co.uk/productpages/hiblow.htm

    hi,
since you have experience, can I ask if there is a problem with getting diaphragms if they get spoilt?
also roughly how much are they per pair and where can we get them if available.
    Thanks.

Well, since i just bought it couple of days back, i hope it will not spoil that quickly...

I think Qianhu is the distributor of Hiblow. So you can bring it to Qianhu for repair and maintenance. Price, you will need to ask them.

reviving an old thread. I'm considering setting up a 2 tier rack with total of 7-8 tanks. This rack will be in my guest bedroom. genes, can I ask how the noise is in a bedroom? Also, could you pm me the price of your hiblow 20? How many outlets can it support comfortably?

HiBlow-20 is a bit noisy but much lesser compared to PC exhaust fan in my case. Can hardly hear any noise from the other room.

if i remember correctly, i was told that highblow20 can comfortably support 10 outlets. if stretched to 15 a bit dicey.

so if you have only 7-8 tanks, then should be withing it's ability.
the only thing is how long will it last. i have bad experience with diaphragm air pumps in general, and they don't last too long especially in hot environment.

anyone can give an idea of roughly how long a highblow air pump can last with 24/7 usage?
    thanks.

    i've ordered a 4x1x1 2 tier rack, so max I'd have is 8 tanks...guess a highblow20 is perfect for me.

no idea about lifespan though. This is the first time I'm resorting to air driven filters to cut cost (8 canisters will break my bank, and won't fit into the cabinet of the rack)

4x1x1 2 tier rack? wow... that means 8 1 ft cube tanks?

What do you intend to keep in there?
