    Hello
Have you ever used softener resin into the canister filter ?
I Know some chinese aquascapers use the softener resin to lower water hardness
What do you think about this method ?

    Regards,
    Paolo

You mean Ion exchange resin? It works, but the resin is very quickly exhausted. Have to change it very often, unless you are feeding Reverse Osmosis water into it, even then it doesn't last that long.

    Yes,I mean Ion exchange resin...
I can not understand why some people put the resin into filters.I also think it is easier to use tap water + aquaRO...
Maybe aqua-RO contains too few trace ?
For example if I want gh 1 and kh 2 and I use more aqua-RO than tap water I have in my tank water with a few trace or other elemts...it is possible ?
    Thanks for your answers...

The resin will remove even more trace elements from the water than even RO can remove.

Some people swear by RO+DI, some people say its silly, some even just use dechlorinated tap water in their marine setups.

Yes or if you mix RO with tapwater or use products like Instant Ocean for saltwater or kH up for freshwater it is easier to control your gh / kh, especially if your area has incredibly hard water, like one of our Canadian bros here has.
