You're using pebble bits to grow plants?
Please be kind with the comments as this aquarium isn't really ready for photos. More photos, along with higher resolution versions of these are available in my Goldie Haven photo album. Thanks for looking :-)

You're using pebble bits to grow plants?
Well, yes and no... There is a UGF in use for part of the filtration and over that is a layer of river rock, then a layer of fluorite, and then another layer of river rock. One cannot use ordinary plant substrate alone in Goldfish aquariums because the fish get the substrate stuck in their mouths -- there have been cases of the fish actually chocking to death -- and the jagged edges of the fluorite aren't good for the fancy fins either. This layering method works for my aquarium...
That said, my previous aquascape for Goldie Haven used only river rock for substrate and the plants thrived. My Tropical Haven aquarium doesn't use any plant substrate at all and it's a virtual jungle. You don't need plant substrate to grow live plants.

Oh alright. As long as you're aware.
Pretty impressive layout I must say![]()

Its interesting to see a planted layout for goldfish. I kinda miss them. Nice layout and fishes.
Thank you
It does seem as though planted Goldfish aquariums are pretty rare. People have a hard time keeping plants and Goldfish together for some reason. I find a lot of incorrect preconceived notions getting in their way more than anything... This is my 30th planted aquascape for Goldfish and all have been successful![]()
