What is the right way to plant glosso, basically I just cut a section about 2-3cm then insert into the sand. Ended up having these standing straight up and those crawling are those that grew out from the node

i dun separately cut each node, simply take a group then plunge it into the gravel.. once they start growing, i will re-insert those potential ones that will grow upwards

    haha!
sheesh... if i do that i'll be replanting the whole foreground of my 4ft all the time...
    they all grow upwards...
    i think its the temp...
but they crawl in my 2ft... i just plunge them into the gravel one by one...
they crawl faster if the leaves sticking out of the ground are not the new leaves but the ones that are cut at the stem so new shoots grow from the node...

That is what I did, the new shoot will crawl but not the ones you started off, they'll be standing up still, so does this mean I have to cut them off?

that means you should have shoved the entire original plant all the way in till only the tip of the leaves is visible. [:]

    ehh
    i plant elatine this way
cut off a 3cm long strand
plant the strand in using a pair of tweezers
leave at least one pair of leaves sticking out
this way, you only need a miniscule handful to populate the whole tank
that should work for glosso too

Hey found this article about one guy' experience with glossostigma. Worth a read.... My problem with glosso is that they tend to grow upwards and stringy when they should spread sidewards....

    Anywhere, here is the article.

    Hi,

I got the same problem. My glosso, which I planted a week ago, are growing taller. Should I replant them and shove them all the way in till the top leaves are left?

    Hi Simon,

I have also planted glosso 2-3 days ago. Some of them are already growing upwards. You mentioned about sufficient lights, is 4x36W PL lights sufficient for a 3ftx1.5ftx1.5ft tank?

    Hi Simon,

Need further advice from you. Some stalks of mine are growing upwards, I have pushed them down, exposing the leaflets. I also discovered many of them melted! What's the cause for that? Thanks.

Glosso here stays down with lots of light 1w/lt. Problem is it grows on top of each-self and the plants under die and at the end you have green on top and a cave under. The best behaved glosso I have seen was in an aquarium with 0,5w/lt HQI soil under the sand no CO2 no ferts on the column it stayed down moved in one level it was superb for almost one year as soon as CO2 and ferts were introduced to the aquarium it started growing upward really fast it was terrible we had to take the whole thing out.

Just something I've heard and not been able to or inclined to (cos I don't intend to plant glosso in the near future) prove...

One of the Tans of Bioplast told me that there are 2 types of glosso, one creeps and forms a carpet, and the other grows upwards no matter how much light you give them.
