A newly set-up tank outside the house. Has added plants at the top, creating a top for planting plants and below added wild guppies into the tank.

The guppies will eat up the larvae even if mosquitoes breed

Thanks, I did up 3 tanks to rush for the new year. This is one of them. In total, planning took about 1month, the actual work - about 2 weeks.

This tank is the simpler tank amongst the 3. Took me about 3 days to setup. Now the top is filled with many plants and for the bottom - the wood are line with moss and more fishes.

yup, the concept is based on no electricity - outdoors, thus no pumps,no filter...etc. Mosquito, perhaps will come, but I'm sure the hungry guppies will be all waiting to gobble them up

How do you intend to combat algae problems?

Avoid sunlight is the No 1 rule. This placement has no exposure to sunlight. The plants top of the tank are selected with little or no light requirement type. (Ikea sells them mostly)

I practice some water change, although not very regiously/frequent, but its about 1/5 change or top up of water every 2 weeks.

Yamato is inside this tank as well - to combat black algae if any

Thus far, the tank has survive till now (since X'mas) without any infestion of algae (finger cross), but I do notice some "gel" like substance forming from the bark of the wood. I simply "fan" them off with my hand, but need to manually remove (using suction water change) them as no filter. But its only once. I guess due to the wood (these are wood taken from the open) - Maybe I should have condition them before using.
