so what is the problem? from the last photo (the first two are blur ) both plants are fern so should be ok for low tech. What is your light wattage and tank dimension?

Is the plants just bought from LFS? if so, don't be surprise if it melt in about 2 month time

Could it be a case of scaping? maybe you might want to refer to some of the scapes found in famous websites like ada to get a feel of how you'd like to do up your tank.

firstly, i find the tank still abit empty. its around 1.4 feet. but the tank is tall. i bought it from biotope.

secondly, the light should be enough as it is very bright liao. not sure of wattage. shoud be 11. is my liuid nutrients not good enough? considered going high tech. but dont bear to spend the money. LOL

1.4ft and tall some more with only 11W, that is not enough to go hight tech. I have 1.5ft running under 72W but then it depend on what type of plant you having.

If you feel the tank empty, you can add tall plant, or add rock or driftwood and tied your fern on it.

To enhance your presentation skill, try taking photos at night to avoid seeing the reflection of you and your window/balcony.

If your tank is going to be just Java Fern or maybe some moss, then you won't have to worry much about lighting, ferts or CO2.

Do read up about planted tanks online and you will improve greatly in a very short time. That is the route most of us took.

every plant need CO2. It is just that slow growing plant will require less CO2. Also is you have low light, the CO2 intake also low because photosynthesis slower.

for low tech, moss can survive without co2.
you can try getting some java moss and taiwan moss - these are what i have in my low tech tank without co2.
you can search for some information in the planted - moss section too.
