My first try on landscaping in my 4ft tank. Used to be my dads marine fish tank but since he got a new one, i got to use it. I like freshwater fish especially tetras, loaches, corys and elephant fish. My boyfriend used to do the landscaping but we decided that i try and give it a go.

This pic only shows the left side of my tank, about 2ft. the right side is quite empty.. havent had inspiration to do that half yet.

Ive got danios, rummynose, elephant fish, some loaches, corys, penguins, cardinals, cherry shrimps, and a fish i call "shiny". oh, and 5 angelfish.

Please comment. Am new to keeping fish.

If you are keeping angelfish they will attack the cherry shrimps. Don't be surprise the next day your cherry shrimps is been wipe out. As for your scape can you take a full tank shot?

as a newbie, below is my opinions.

whats the sand you used ? are they for plants ?

the angels will also attack the tetras, u have to be careful

some moss on the wood should make the scape nicer.

Hi hotpink, wow your first tank and you get a 4ft canvas to express yourself! thats really cool. I've just started scaping myself, and it took months b4 i settled on a 1.5ft.

In any case, I've just decided on investing in a 4ft. Hope you can share your considerations when choosing the scape for such a large tank? thanks and cheers.

i bought the sand from irwana. mm, its for plants and has fertilizer in it too. my angels dont attack my tetras but i read online that once they get bigger, they might consume them. however, keeping them when theyre small and introducing tetras. theres a possibility that they wont eat the tetras. is that true?

i have another wood in the tank with moss on it. they get sunlight and everything. but no doing so well, they keep dying and growing again. how do i keep them alive?

actually, i didnt buy the tank. my dads been keeping fish for about 45 years now so naturally we always have fish in our house. we used to have 8 3ft and a 4ft tank in our house but my dad gradually grew out of freshwater and is now into marine.

we gave all the 3fts away and replaced the 4ft (built in) with a marine 4ft tank. no chiller.

my dad recently bought another 4 ft tank for his marine fish thats inside the house. really pretty. so i got to use his tank. i kept some tetras before but no sand, landscape or toys. so this time i decided to make the tank a little prettier. bought some sand. plants and wood. with help from my boyfriend. he did up afew landscapes for me but i didnt like it so i did it myself. it was a try but i ended up really loving it so i kept it like the picture above. its been modified a little now. ill post a pic asap.

can u post a pic of your 1.5ft tank? would love to see it. what fish are you keeping? im a tetra and elephantnose lover (:

hi hotpink...not so true about the angels and tetras living peacefully when young...big fish eat small fish...when they get bigger, they will eat them if possible...

Welcome to the hobby I don't think you need to worry too much about your fish mix right now... hopefully, your Angels will get used to the Tetras once they grow bigger. Just keep them well-fed. Any picture that shows the entire 4ft?
