    Re: Red Behind the Wood

It reminds me of one of the tanks in the top 3 of the ~70L class of the AGA competition last year. In my opinion yours better composed, though. At most a little more ground intense ground cover on the right, fading as it moves to the left in a mimicry of the large branch might help to offer some grounding/balance. It might also help to define the hill on the left if it creeps around its base a little. From there a smaller third rock on the hill near it would bring the eyes focus to the mound and the three balanced rocks, folowwed by the branch. With any luck this would create a visual, "loop" and a nice negative space in the center. That's just my opinion though... I usually disagree with the judges of aquascaping contests.

What is the large dark mass behind the M. pteropus Philippine? It certainly adds a nice shadow, but it clashes with the other branches in my opinion.

I like where your aquarium is headed. Good luck with it!

The dark mass is probably a stone used to temporarily weigh the wood down

Hmm... do you have access to a drill press and saw? You could create a stone base for your driftwood with a good, flush cut, a couple of holes, stainless steel pins and one of a couple bonding compounds.

Hi LUIS ALVES, I like the mass (background) and foundation (overall, the valley and knoll). I think the tank is waiting to look great and for the plants to grow and cover foreground. thanks for sharing.
