Recommendations on new terrapin tank setup

Hi I would like to set up a tank for a batch of 5 terrapins in my room.

my plan is :

1 ft cube light weight tank not plastic, I think is carbon fibre or fibre glass material I forgotten. what's the price for that?

1 internal filter, I'm not sure which to use. any recommendations on a quiet, as small as possible, good enough to keep the water clean and clear.

I'm not sure what kind of lighting to use, I need a light strong enough to act as a sun light for my terrapin to bask itself at times. How many watt lighting do I need? I have a 15watt purple - ish lighting given by a friend, I'm not sure is it advisable to use it or not.

Should I use drift wood or bog wood instead?

Are you prepared to keep the terrapin in excess of 10 years? It would certainly live that long. If you are, the tank size you want would not be enough for the 5 terrapins. I hope you know all this before purchasing the terrapins.

If you are talking about the red neck sliders (the cute little ones you often see in lfs with a patch of red at the neck), be warned that they can grow very big. Look at the sizes of those released in ponds/lakes at the East Coast, any park with a pond like the one at KK, etc. You would have problems with one in a 1ft cube.

Hi Vainkid, I would suggest you look through the vivarium section for past Terrapin threads to get a better idea. It's important to do research into the husbandry of the animals that you will be keeping before getting them. BTW, asking these question in that section will usually generate more respond. But more importantly is to look up more information on the internet, and the information for Terrapin is everywhere.

The bioload of Terrapin are extremely high. You will need very powerful filter to keep the water in good condition, else you will need to change water very frequently. This is especially important since you will be keeping it in your room and the smell will be very bad if it is not done right! Usually, a lot of people can't keep up with maintaining the tank and just let go of their Terrapins somewhere which is not right!

Lastly, don't think you need to keep bumping up your threads.
