Sharing one of my favourite apistos - A. wilhelmi.

Seldom see them around in town these days. This pair survived a delayed shipment from hongkong, so I'm quite thankful that they are alright. Judging from female's colouration, behaviour towards the male, and her piling of the cave entrance, I have a feeling that a spawn may be coming up.

Although for the male, tail coloration is weak and ventral lengths are uneven, this pair has really strong character, always bite my finger instead of the food when feeding... too 'garang'(daring/passionate) already

    Enjoy!

Thanks marle! You're spot on, discovered a brood of eggs on the driftwood this morning. But very small brood as the female is still young, barely 1 inch only. keeping my fingers crossed! Will remove the male soon.

Wow. your female is extremely fertile. either that the male is good at his job!

How about a full tank shot and specs of your tank?

Thanks! Woke up this morning and found the eggs all gone. Female not displaying brooding signs already
Owells, easy come easy go. As long as the pair is healthy, I'm not asking for more

Hehe this pair is in a plain QT tank with no plants, just woods and caves and lots of algae. Will post pics if you guys want.

Thanks! Sadly no more fries. Thinking if I should set up a 3ft for this pair like what you did for your apistos. But not planning for comm tank, just one pair. A bit overkill? Anyway, actually supposed to be purple chin, but really looks like black chin to me also

Hey Eman, thanks to you that this pair is now in my tank. Great initiative! Have to disappoint you already, no fries for now I guess. Hope your gobies are doing fine.

After looking at the apisto again, its dark purple actually. very nice!

i think if you got no space constraint, 3ft for this pair sounds good to me. they will be very happy with a bigger home for sure and i am sure this pair of gorgeous apistos will look very nice in a 3 ft tank.

the purple color is very intense. I like the way the fish looking into the picture ( second pic), like very shocking to see its own image.

Bro, the second spawn will come very soon. Just get ready yr breeding tank and bbs hatchery.

I didn't retire for apistos per se, i retired from breeding them :P I still have very nice pairs in my community and biotope tanks, and a pair in my office iwagumi too. The only pair that I have possibilty of breeding is the office one, but i'm unable to create the ideal conditions due to the nature of the tank (no ph lowering)

Re: iwishweallcouldwin's Apistogramma sp. Wilhelmi "Purple Chin"

Blah need to destress. Too much mugging going on. More pictures to share:

Another regular day of swimming around in the tank. He seems much more carefree than me although he's held up inside an ugly 2ft tank.

Sorry this picture not very good, but its the only picture I've managed to capture him flaring at least a little.

Lastly, a shot of the ugly ugly temporary tank. Once my exams are over I'll renovate their house. Meanwhile please ignore the algae and fungus infestation

So sorry - hope you guys will be able to view now.
