    Hi

Was thinking of rearing a starfish or a couple of seahorses for my PICO tank.. not sure if there is alot of equipments to buy...

If it is not possible... what can I rear as an office table tank?

    Regards

you have many choices of nano tanks available. JBJ 6 Gallon, 12 gallon should be suitable as well. Please do note that for nano tank, there will be very limited equipments you can use. also, if you intend to have it on your office table, a skimmer may get a little too noisy... frequent water change is needed.

depends on what kind of marine tank would you like to have...

FOWLR - Fish Only With Live Rocks (28-30 degrees)
    Reef - fish + corals (24 - 28 degrees)

if you intend to keep FOWLR.. a chiller is not necessary as long as the temp does not go above 30 degrees..

corals thrive at temperatures of about 24 - 28 degrees, so a chiller is vital...

considering the tank is in the office, there should be Air con yeah? only worry will be during the weekends when the AC goes off in your office. Pumps produce heat and may bring your temperature up. alternative, you can use a fan instead considering the small size of your tank, however evaporation rate will be high..

You should consider a 24 Gallon as your first tank. If you are new to marine aquariums, a pico tank is not the best place to start, the learning curve is already fairly steep as it is.

If you're dead set on going with a pico tank, try to read up as much as possible first.

Oh... tot the smaller then tank the easier to start...

actually bought a small pico tank from the Aquamara 2009... was thinking of reef tank as I already have a freshwater tank.

Yes.. have been reading up alot about reef tanks... definitely alot to learn...

Glad that there are some forums that gave insights to setting up a reef tank... tho its not easy to understand.

smaller tank = smaller volumn of water = high water condition needed

also, for a pico tank, do consider getting nano fishes as certain marine life do require huge swimming spaces..

i have a 24G nano tank.. if you do stay arnd the east you are more then welcome to drop by..
