Hi Guys, I am new in chiller but managed to grab hold of a 2nd hand CL650 give away by my friends. I have a few questions that I need some englightenment:

    1. How long do I need to switch on the chiller? 24 hrs? I plan to turn on the chiller for 8 hrs everyday. Is this recommended?

    2. The chiller is perviously used in salt water tank, is this ok for a fresh water tank?

    3. I have a power head that is having a flow rate 2200 L/H. I intend to use it on CL650, is this ok? The spec for CL650 shows that the recommended flow rate is >1800L/H.

    4. The chiller, I am getting is about 11 months old, do I need any servcing or maintanance?

    Thanks.

Re: Some queries on Resun CL650

Hi, I am new to chiller too and I have just recently purchase a second hand resun CL280 and I am very happy with it since.
    1) I don't understand why you would want to switch the chiller off? Since the chiller already has it's own temperature control, you can just set the desired temperature (e.g. 20oC) and when the temperature goes above this temperature (+ the preset range), then it will "kick it" automatically. Therefore, in my opinion, there is no need tp turn it off.
    2) It should be alright as long as you wash it thoroughly, I would recommend running in it a buckle of water for a day or two.
    3) This should be fine
    4) Mine is even older and it seems to be working well. As long as it can cold the tank, I guess it is OK. But if you have it running and the tank temperature doesn't go dwon after a while.... Maybe you need to top up the coolant.

    Have fun,
    Frank

Re: Some queries on Resun CL650

Hi Frank, thanks for the advice. I just got the chiller running today. The chiller is in perfect condition.
However, I think my power head is not working is not doing the job. I am searching around for Eheim power head.....
