Hi syburn,
I do suggest getting a new one. Unless you are sure you need a impeller, catch is we will never know what needs to be replaced. Though replacing an impeller takes only seconds, time and effort is required to get spares and if you decided to get someone to repair it, time is wasted again.
I suggest you take your fishes out and placed them in a tank with an air pump in. Then you will have some time looking for spares or new filter. Plants should be fine for awhile without filter.
Good luck bro.
