It seems that my canister alot of air inside and everytime alot of bubbles came out in the water. How to get rid of the air inside the canister? Got other solutions other than dismantling out the whole thing? FYI i got surface skimmer. Could it be the air entered the canister through the top of the surface skimmer? What i did was to submerge the top of the surface skimmer in the water to prevent air from entering and immediately alot of bubbles came out. Maybe this can push all the air out....but then i slowly allow the thing to float on the water and the bubbles still come out but not as frequent

no the surface skimmer is not the culprit to this problem you have. What may be good is to check your rubber piping to see if there is any 'kink' or creaks. Ensure that the pipes are not bend that restricts water flow. if the air bubbles still persist. Stop your filter and dismantle it. Check that all the O-rings are fine and inplace and that they are not damaged. Did you dismantle the impeller chamber? Check to see if you have place everything back in order.

Lastly check that the power head rubber ring is not twisted.

yes you do need to fill with water...infact, fill up near to the brim of the canister. As you insert the head, there will be some spill over but at least you know that you will have minimum air-lock....keep us updated.

From the other thread, you seem to have problem with your skimmer being stuck. It could be the water is not flowing properly in the filter hence sucking in air. If this happens, your filter normally stops flow which is a bad thing for your filter and you tank water. Suggest you solve the skimmer problem first before tackling the filter.
    Cheers!!

Tilt your canister permanently. I just did it. The filter does not stop. The air bubbles in my filter escape 2 the external reactor though. Mine is a 2222.

hey David, my problem is solved now. I open my canister and fill it completely with water and use pump head to cover it. Some water overflow. Already run for a day and no more air bubbles.

Hey David, if those newbies did not fill the canister with water, means they need to suck till very hard first w/othe filter on or on the filter first and suck at the same time?

Neither. Suck a little bit and the water will start flowing. Wait until the filter fills up completely and the water travels up the return tube, then start the filter.

    Important, before priming:
    - make sure there are no loops in either hoses.
    - make sure no water in the hoses. (If the tubes are completely FULL of water, you only have to reconnect and open the valve, no need to prime).
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
